Who We Are

About Us

Annette Jouard

Annette Jouard

Annette was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado where she grew up enjoying the outdoors. Both of her parents were educators so her family spent time exploring new places in the summers. Annette's father was a science teacher and introduced her to the wonders of nature. Her college days were spent at the University of Oregon, as she loved the green and longed to explore the Northwest. There, she received a BS in Recreation and Environmental Education. Annette had several jobs throughout her career: teaching environmental education to children at the Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest Service, many years teaching cross-country skiing, teaching Field Days for the Wenatchee School District, and working with school groups at the Wenatchee River Institute. She eventually returned to school to acquire her teaching degree, and then had several jobs teaching.

Annette loves the outdoors and being active. She is an avid skier, backpacker, kayaker, birder and world traveler. Annette enjoys sharing her knowledge of the natural world with others. Her two children, Kelsey and Dawson, both work in the film industry and live in Los Angeles. Annette has joined the WRI Board because she believes it is important to educate our youth about the outdoors so that they will enjoy it and take care of it.
