Marcela Todd Zaragoza

Marcela Todd Zaragoza

Although Marcela is not originally from Washington, she has fallen in love with the diversity and beauty of the ecosystems here. She grew up in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, moved to Texas at the age of 10, and has lived in Washington for the past four and a half years. Marcela recently graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Resource Management with an emphasis on Wildlife Conservation. Some things she is passionate about include ecology, environmental science, environmental education, and research. She has been a part of research projects looking at post-fire forests in Washington, forest dynamics, and the effects of ocean dynamics on seabird reproduction. Now, she is thrilled to be a part of the Wenatchee River Institute where she can continue developing these interests while also connecting people of all ages and backgrounds with nature, as Marcela strives to do her part in bringing more inclusivity and representation to the outdoors and environmental science. Marcela believes that it all starts with having fun outdoors and exploring nature! Outside of work, Marcela enjoys hiking, camping, birding, and crocheting!
