Session Three: January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14

Thursday after school nature trek is for kids in Kindergarten- 4th grade. This 5 week session we will be joined by Cascadia Conservation District!
January 17th: Plant ID walk
oWalk with me through the wilderness and get up close and personal with the plant life! We will learn to look at the plants leaves, how it grows, and other characteristics that make it unique, then use our gathered observations to try and identify our plant.

January 24th: All about snow lesson
oLearn about wild animals and winter adaptations by playing “the lynx and the hare” game outside in the snow and looking at and making observations of animal tracks. They will also learn about the importance of snowpack and drinking water by creating their own mountain range from snow, complete with streams and rivers!

January 31st: Enviroscape Model
oObserve and demonstrate point and non-point pollution including garbage, waste water sludge, stormwater runoff, and sediment through a large hands-on watershed model. Students will brainstorm pollution solutions and test them on the model.

February 7th: Incredible Journey
oLearn how water circulates through the water cycle as it changes between a solid, liquid, and gas. Students will act as water molecules as they chart a path through the water cycle, giving them a better understanding of evaporation, precipitation, storage, seepage and flow.

February 14th: Does Watershed?
oDiscover what a watershed is and how we affect the watershed we live in. Students create individual paper watersheds and learn about the impacts of land planning, pollutants, stormwater and floods.

For registration please select the first day of this session. Limit of 10 students.

Refund & Cancellation Policy: Program fee is refundable ONLY if a cancellation is made 2 weeks prior to the start of camp, minus a $20 non-refundable administrative fee. Withdrawals after this deadline forfeit the full registration fee. If we are able to fill your space with someone from the waitlist, or if you know someone who would like to take your place, you will receive a full refund minus a 10% processing fee. Membership fees are non-refundable. Although we rarely need to do so, we reserve the right to cancel a program. In this case, you will receive a pro-rated refund for canceled camp days.
