X-WR-CALDESC:Wenatchee River Institute is hosting the Leavenworth Christmas
  Bird Count this year!\n\nThe Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a nationwide c
 ommunity science effort to count birds that has been happening for over 12
 0 years. It is organized by the National Audubon Society\, and local count
 s are compiled by regional Audubon chapters\, community members\, or organ
 izations like WRI. Specific counts occur on one day in a 15-mile diameter 
 circle around a town\, and the Leavenworth count is happening on Wednesday
 \, December 18th! \n\nThere are plenty of routes to cover and lots of spac
 e for volunteer leaders or beginning birders to join in. If you'd like to 
 participate\, please send an email to Joshua (contact info below). \n\nThi
 s is a great opportunity to both volunteer for this amazing community scie
 nce project as well as learn from fellow community members. There is no co
 st to participate. Depending on the route you are on\, there are varying a
 mounts of birding to be done on foot or from the car. You can also partici
 pate from home!
