We connect People, Communities and the Natural World.
The Wenatchee River Institute believes the greatest hope for the future is connecting people with the natural world. To do this we engage students, of all ages, in hands-on environmental learning, with the highest quality facilities, programs, and staff. Each experience we create aims to inspire our students to understand, appreciate and protect the natural world. Through education we help build sustainable communities and environments for generations to come.
We began our Youth Education Field Days Program in 2007. Over the years we have worked closely with teachers to align our activities with state standards and make our program an extension of the classroom. The principles of sustainability are embedded throughout and we strive to include the best available science in all of our activities. The student to adult ratio is about 6:1, so students benefit from direct attention. We rely on collaboration with local scientists and community volunteers to make this happen. Today, we proudly serve thousands of students from throughout the Wenatchee River Valley in this one-of-a-kind program.
