Eastmont School District Earth Explorers |
In their first year of Field Days, various schools from Eastmont School District visited WRI's campus. In some of their final visits, 5th graders from Kenroy and Cascade Elementary Schools were Earth Explorers as they learned all about how different factors can impact erosion, fire, and other natural phenomenon. They also explored the world around them on a nature hike. We had a lovely time welcoming Eastmont School District for their first year of Field Day programming and hope to see them again in the future!

Last week, 3rd graders from Vale Elementary visited WRI. To wrap up their school year, they took inspiration from our flighted friends and participated in our Wild Birds program. They played some WRI favorites like "What's that Bird" and tried to simulate bird calls with their classmates. Students also got up-close with preserved bird specimens and learned about what birds eat on a bug hunt. It's bittersweet to see our programming come to a close, but we look forward to seeing these students again next year as 4th graders.

Volunteers Needed - Pond Garden Maintenance |
Have you been looking for a summer gardening project? WRI is looking for a volunteer to take over management and planning of our Pond Garden. Located by the River Haus, this small garden features a pond and a variety of native plants lovingly planted by previous caretakers, Ann and Gary Colley. This garden has been prepped for summer and needs a dedicated caretaker to apply their own vision to this space. If you are interested, please email Mason.
WRI would like to extend a special thank you to Ann and Gary Colley for their years of work beautifying and maintaining this space. They are graciously offering to oversee the transition of management and hold much wisdom and know-how for our future caretaker. |
