Get ready for an exciting lineup of programs at WRI this September and October! From hands-on workshops like painting, beading, and outdoor photography to guided walks, there’s something for everyone. September marks the final month of Paint & Stroll, so don’t miss your chance to join us for this unique experience. Bird lovers can enjoy two more months of Birding by the River in Leavenworth and the Wenatchee Bird Walk. We hope to see you at an event soon and share the beauty of the season together!
Our educators are also transitioning from a busy summer of camps to a full season of school-year youth programs. From Field Days to After School Programs and more, we’re excited to welcome students back for another year of hands-on learning. Check out all the youth programming we offer here. |

Join author and journalist Lynda V. Mapes for a discussion about changing our relationship with forests. Lynda will share examples of sustainable forestry practices underway in our region and beyond that take care of people, forests, and wildlife, drawing from her new book, The Trees Are Speaking: Dispatches from the Salmon Forests. Her books will be available for sale at the event. Thanks to A Book for All Seasons. |
| Paint and Sip: Red Barn Style!

Join us for a Paint and Sip in the Red Barn. Our painting will be inspired by the book, The Trees are Speaking: Dispatches from the Salmon Forests by Lynda V. Mapes, which she will be presenting about on Thursday, September 4th. Art supplies, instruction, and one beverage are included in registration, and you will take home your masterpiece at the end of the night!

| Outdoor Photography Workshop: Lake Wenatchee

Step outside and into the natural world—ready to see, frame, and capture! This outdoor photo field trip will train your eye and spark your creativity. Learn how to observe your environment like a photographer, compose dynamic shots using natural light, and create a mini nature photo story.
These workshops are geared toward beginner or intermediate level photographers, but all are welcome to enroll. Any type of capture device may be used including cell phone, point and shoot, mirrorless and DSLR cameras. |

Included with your ticket is a delicious meal from Ravenous Catering, a beverage of your choice, and participation in fun camp activities with WRI Field Educators (including the planetarium!). | Astronomy along the River

Join the Wenatchee Valley Astronomy Club on a family friendly journey through space. Using a variety of telescopes, we’ll gaze up into the Milky Way and learn about some of the best night sky objects to view. During this program we’ll also explore the basics of telescope use, the different types of telescopes, and some helpful tricks to enhance your experience in star gazing.

Fall Fungi Field Trip

Join Wenatchee River Institute and Puget Sound Mycological Society for our Fall Fungi Field Trip! PSMS guides will take groups of people out to different locations for fungi foraging and collection. There is no guarantee you'll find good edible mushrooms, but you will learn the basics of foraging and get an idea of habitats to explore in the future. The guided trips will be out foraging for about 3-4 hours.

Join us for a day filled with creativity and learning. Local Indigenous artist and owner of Mystic North Jewelry, Amanda Keewatinawin, will be leading a workshop on the Indigenous art form of beading. She will be sharing knowledge on the history of Indigenous beadwork and how to create your own mini beaded fringe earrings.

We are bidding farewell to Joshua, who has been part of the WRI team since December 2021. During his time with us, Joshua developed the River Discovery Tour and served as the head WRI organizer for Bird Fest for the past two years. His contributions have left a lasting impact on our programs and community.
