Youth Programs: Field Days

Only a few Field Days remain for this school year. We have two more dates that are in need of a volunteer or two. Please check out our availability form, which shows how many volunteers are needed for specific dates and times. We will send you a confirmation email for the dates you are needed. Thank you for being such a vital part of WRI’s youth programs—we can't wait to see you out there!

Nature Menders

Wednesdays

8:30AM-10:30AM

As Nature Menders, we work collaboratively with the landscape to foster a healthy, balanced ecosystem.

Join us every Wednesday. We’ll gather weekly to enjoy the morning cool until the summer heat sets in. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a curious neighbor, come help us support our native habitat and give the garden the care it deserves.

Garden Club

Bi-weekly on Thursdays

June 11th, June 25th, July 9th and more!

Starting April 16, the Garden Club will begin hosting bi-weekly volunteer sessions at the Community Garden focused on weeding and general cleanup. Each meetup is scheduled to last two hours, with the timing designed to adapt to the changing seasons; while sessions will likely begin around 10:00 AM during the spring, the start time will shift earlier in the morning as the weather gets hotter.

Special thanks to the Cascade Garden Club!

Family Bird Walk with Wenatchee Public Library

Wednesday, July 8th

10:00AM-12:00PM

We're looking for volunteers to help families and children with binoculars and to hike with the group and provide a welcoming presence. Walk will be guided by a WRI Educator. Volunteers don't need to be birders (though that's always a plus!). Walk will start at Walla Walla Point Park and walk to Horan Natural Area in Wenatchee.

If you're interested in helping, reach out to Virginia.

Dog Days of Summer with Wenatchee Valley Humane Society

Saturday, July 11th

4:00PM-7:00PM

We are gearing up for our upcoming Dog Days of Summer event, and we need your help to make it a barking success!

The event kicks off with a group walk around our campus trails and the Waterfront Park, followed by a self-guided trail walk for attendees and their furry friends. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to fill a few different roles:

  • Trail Greeters: Greet hikers and their pups with provided treats and fun facts (2–5 volunteers)!
  • Beverage Servers: 1–2 volunteers to help keep everyone hydrated and serve drinks during the event. MAST certification required.

If you're interested in helping, reach out to Angela.

National Youth Hunt and Fish Day

Saturday, August 8th

10:00AM-3:00PM

Join a WRI Educator to run a game for attendees at National Hunt and Fish Day in East Wenatchee. Attendees will be visiting us to complete their Activity Passport for the day and we will have a game or activity for kids to complete in order to get their stamp. Join us to run the Wildlife Olympics or a track and skull matching game.

Contact Virginia if you have any questions.

CAFE's Pachanga y Mercadito

Saturday, August 15th

5:00PM-8:00PM

Join a WRI Educator to run an educational activity for CAFE Wenatchee's Pachanga y Mercadito party and street fair! We will have a family-friendly activity and greet attendees. Help us introduce a new audience to free opportunities in Leavenworth. Spanish speakers would be a great help!

Contact Virginia if you have any questions.

Thank you again for your involvement with WRI and your commitment to your community. We appreciate you!
