Along with our ongoing campus care, we’re ramping up for Youth Field Days in September and October, and we’d love your help bringing outdoor learning to life for local students. Volunteer Open House
Thursday, September 24th
5:00PM-7:00PM
|
Come connect with the WRI community, enjoy light snacks and drinks, and meet our team! From 5:00PM-6:00PM, we’ll mingle and share all the exciting ways you can support WRI as a volunteer.
There will be a general training about volunteering at WRI. Then we will split into groups based on your interest area. For anyone interested in Youth Education, it's highly recommended to stick around for the training. Let us know you're coming by clicking the link below! |

Youth Programs: Field Days |
Help inspire the next generation of nature lovers by volunteering with our Field Day Programs. You’ll assist with hands-on science exploration right here on campus for local school classes.
How to Get Involved: -
Join the Volunteer Open House: Come for specific training and sample of educational stations that are covered during the fall Youth Programs.

Submit Your Preferences: Spots are first-come, first-served, so be sure to fill out your availability early.
- Get Confirmed: You’ll receive an initial email confirming your scheduled dates (plus any backup dates), followed by a final details reminder right before your Field Day.
Course Credit: If you need volunteer hours for a class (like WANAT), you’ll receive priority scheduling as long as you submit your availability promptly. |

Volunteer at Wenatchee River Salmon Festival with WRI Thursday, September 17th and/or Friday, September 18th
9:00AM-2:00PM |
The Wenatchee River Salmon Festival is right around the corner, and we need your help to support visiting school groups at Rocky Reach Dam & Discovery Center.
We have a busy, fun-filled program lined up! While WRI staff will be lead-hosting the archery station, we need awesome volunteers to help manage our stereoscope and hands-on school outreach table. - Flexible Timing: Can’t commit to the whole shift? No problem! We welcome volunteers for full days or split shifts.

No prior experience necessary: We will make sure you have all the tools and instructions you need to help students explore and learn.
Even with support from the Salmon Fest team, having extra volunteers from our own community ensures every student gets a great experience.

Sunset & S'mores
Wednesday, September 30th 5:30PM-7:30PM |
We’re looking for 1 to 2 more volunteers to assist with a few essential roles.
Roles We Need Help With - Set-Up/Take-Down: Help set up tables, signage, and activity areas before guests arrive OR help break down all the tables and chairs after the event.
- Activity Station Support: Guide participants and keep the fun rolling at our event activity stations. You'll be paired with a WRI staff member.
If you're interested in helping, reach out to Angela. No need to register if you're volunteering; your meal is included! Just let us know by Wednesday, September 16th!
P.S. If you'd rather attend and not volunteer, there is still time to register! Feel free to bring a friend or family member along. Reserve your meal today, and we'll send you a confirmation email with the link to sign up for the Traveling Planetarium. Spots are limited, so don't wait!

Spooky Stroll and Moonlit Skies Sunday, October 25th 5:30PM-8:30PM |
We’re looking for a few enthusiastic volunteers (1–4 people) to help make our upcoming spooky night on Sunday, October 25 a haunt-tastic success!
Volunteers will be needed from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM (the event runs from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM) to help with: - Greeting participants and spreading festive cheer
- Assisting kids and families with a hands-on craft
- Hosting our "Skins and Skulls" touch table
- Helping guide and wrangle groups during our night hike
No spooky experience required—just bring your enthusiasm and love for the outdoors and working with kids! If you're interested in helping out, please email Virginia. |

Campus Volunteer Opportunities |

|
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Nature Menders or the Cascade Garden Club work parties! Thanks to your hard work, our campus continued to thrive right through the heat of the summer. We have plenty more opportunities around the corner! Looking ahead to fall, we are excited to bring back several popular campus projects: - Bumblebee Habitat Restoration Days: Returning again this October to help establish native species across campus, which includes planting and mulching.

Make a Difference Day: Help us prepare for a biochar day by collecting and moving material to burn at a later date. Come out and help on Saturday, October 24, 2026!

Storm Cleanup Day (TBD): Clearing brush and debris remaining from last December's storm. For this workday, we will especially need volunteers with chainsaws and experience in tree removal!
