Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Hello *{{Informal Name}}*,

Happy 2026! We’re excited to kick off the new year with two months of Snowshoe Strolls and are also working on securing additional Youth Field Days dates, so stay tuned. We’re so grateful to have you as part of our volunteer community.

As part of our annual volunteer check-in, we are reviewing volunteer waivers. Below, you’ll see the date your current waiver expires.

Expiration date: *{{Volunteer Waiver Expiration Date CF-1}}*

If that space is blank, we don’t have a recent waiver on file for you. If this is the case for you, or your expiration date has passed or is nearing, please take a moment to complete the 2026 Volunteer Waiver, so you’re ready to participate this winter.

Thank you for all you do to support our programs. We can’t wait to get outside together in 2026!

Join the Trashion Show Committee

We are seeking 1-2 enthusiastic volunteers to join our collaborative committee and help plan the 5th annual Trashion Show, happening this spring on Friday, April 24th.

This unique event is our celebration of Earth Day where we showcase incredible wearable art made by community members with recycled and repurposed materials.

Your Role & Impact: The committee is comprised of WRI staff and partner organization representatives. As a volunteer, you will work closely with the team to plan, promote, and execute the entire event. This is a fantastic opportunity to put your creative vision, organizational skills, and passion for sustainability directly into action!

Commitment Details:

  • Attend monthly planning meetings starting in January through April. We offer flexible scheduling and a hybrid meeting option to fit your schedule.
  • Be available to assist with the Trashion Show on Friday, April 24th (event runs from 5:30 PM–7:30 PM, with set-up beginning in the afternoon).
  • Enthusiasm for fashion, upcycling, event planning, and community gatherings!

Interested? Reach out to Virginia if you are interested in joining the committee or if you have any questions about your involvement. We can't wait to hear from you!

Youth Education

Traveling Planetarium Pick-up

We recently had maintenance done for our Traveling Planetarium—great news for our youth programs! The planetarium was dropped off in Bremerton, WA and now needs to be picked up and returned to Leavenworth, so we can begin using it for January programs.

We’re looking for a volunteer who may be interested in helping with this transport. Ideally, the pickup would take place during the first week of January, on a weekday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

As a thank-you, the volunteer will receive: Complimentary admission to a future Traveling Planetarium community night and mileage reimbursement.

If you’re available and interested, please reach out to Dee.

Thank you for helping us bring hands-on science experiences to our community!

If you’re interested in participating, please fill out the availability form so we can match you with upcoming sessions. The form indicates how many more volunteers are needed for the dates and times.
