How do you like to be creative? Campers entering grades 1-3 explored this question at Creativity Camp with Icicle Creek Center for the Arts. Guest instructors, Mason Powers, Rhia Foster and Mary Big Bull-Lewis paid our campers a special visit and led activities to develop skills for creative self-expression through music, drawing, dancing, acting, and crafts.

Great art needs great inspiration, and we think nature is the best muse out there. Campers entering grades 4-6 ventured into the great outdoors to hike, play, and get inspired. Guest artists, Mary Big Bull-Lewis and Amanda Northwind, helped campers channel their inspiration into art. Campers used their time outside to create art using different mediums and even explored how to use found natural items like leaves and flowers into their work. |

2 groups of campers learned some outdoor survival skills over the last 2 weeks. How do you stay prepared in the wild? How can you use plants and things found in nature? How do you navigate in the outdoors? Campers entering grades 4-6 (session 1) and 1-3 (session 2) got to answer these questions by exploring the great outdoors. Wike Wyant and volunteers from Trout Unlimited taught campers about fishing. They also went on a tour of the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery and practiced archery.

Thank You and Farewell, Rebecca |
Rebecca joined the WRI board in November of 2019. In her 5 year tenure, she served as Board Secretary, Board Vice President and Governance Committee Chair. She brought a great deal of non-profit leadership and professionalism into everything she did with WRI. Her direct and strategic voice will be missed on our board. We'll see you at BirdFest, Rebecca! Thank you for your years of service. |

Come See the Fleidermaus (Bat) Haus |
Bats aren't "flying rats" like their German name suggests. They're essential to pollination, pest control, and are very clean critters. Come see our new bat house on the wildlife snag at the River Haus next time you visit WRI. Painted by Land Steward, Tiffa, we hope this Bavarian inspired design will show our flying mammal friends that WRI welcomes them! |
