Bird Fest Poster Winner! Congratulations to Charlie Ricketts, 2nd grader from Cascade School District! Charlie's art, featuring a Red-breasted Nuthatch, won the poster contest. Bird Fest Events It is not too late to sign up for Bird Fest events. There are spaces available in some art classes, workshops, and a few birding excursions. Art Workshops Birding Boot Camp Friday, May 14th, 6:00am-2:00pm This trip will focus on voice, behavior, appearance and habitat: the 4 principles of bird ID. Birding Blewett Pass Sunday, May 16th, 8:00am-12:00pm Explore Blewett Pass through birding. Bird Friendly Property Tours Sunday, May 16th, 9:00am-12:00pm We’ll visit 3 properties near Leavenworth that offer excellent examples of landscapes designed with birds in mind.

Wenatchee School District After School Program We just wrapped up the first session of virtual after school programming with the Wenatchee School District. 398 students, over 24 days, received education form WRI staff! This lovely piece of art was created by a student from Lewis and Clark Elementary. She included everything she learned from her WRI educators.
Behind the Lens with Expedition Reclamation - Virtual Tuesday, May 18th, 7:00PM Step behind the scenes of a short documentary highlighting 12 Washington-based Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color exploring their joyful, resilient, and transformative relationships to outdoor recreation. Six of the characters live in the Wenatchee Valley!
Place Welcome New Staff Ella Hampson - Community Programs Educator Ella is passionate about working with communities to develop knowledge about and connection with the land. She is excited to help facilitate this process through her work with WRI. Outside of work, Ella enjoys rock climbing, hiking, painting and reading. Tucker Jonas - Youth Programs Educator Tucker is thrilled to be working at WRI with our youth programs because he is inspired by young people's curiosity towards the natural world and values our collective education. He likes to spend his free time outdoors, participating in all sorts of hobbies including birding, biking, ultimate frisbee, skiing, and strumming the guitar.
