Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Hello *{{Informal Name}}*,

Thank you for being part of our WRI volunteer community! November is a little lighter on volunteer opportunities, so we wanted to take a moment to look ahead. The holidays are fast approaching, and we’re excited to share some of the opportunities coming up in December and into the New Year. It’s a busy season for everyone, and we appreciate you taking the time to stay involved and support WRI’s programs and events.

If you’ve ever wanted to volunteer more, or if you have friends who’d like to join, please let us know. I’m happy to connect one-on-one to learn more about your interests and availability so we can find the right opportunities for you.

Thank you for being such an important part of the WRI community. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm truly make a difference.

Help Decorate for the Gingerbread House Competition!

The Leavenworth Chamber’s annual Gingerbread House Competition is right around the corner, and we’re looking for volunteers to help bring some holiday magic. We’ll be decorating early the week of Thanksgiving based on volunteer availability, adding festive garlands, greenery, lights, and cozy touches to make the space sparkle for the season. This year, we’re excited to be entering the nonprofit competition and would love your help to make our gingerbread creation stand out! If you enjoy getting creative and spreading holiday cheer, this is a fun way to help kick off the festivities!

Email Angela if you're interested in decorating.

Envelope Stuffing and Sealing

It's that time of year! We are getting ready for our fall fundraising campaign, and we need your help. We are looking for 1 to 2 volunteers to help with envelope stuffing and sealing on Friday, November 21st and/or Monday, November 24th. Due to the printing schedule, these dates may change.

If you are interested in helping with this task, send Randee an email, and she will be able to provide you with more details as we learn more from our printing partner.

Your support in these office help tasks means that we can spread the importance of our mission more quickly and more often! Thank you so much.

Winter Snowshoe Strolls

It’s that time of year! We’re excited to start planning our snowshoeing tours in partnership with the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery. Most tours will take place on Fridays and Saturdays in January and February, and we can’t wait to bring these events back to the community this winter.

We’ll share more details soon, including volunteer training dates and sign-up information, so stay tuned!

Holiday Parking Support

It’s that time of year again—holiday parking is just around the corner! We’re looking for volunteers to help out during the three weekends leading up to Christmas. This is a fun and easy way to support WRI while greeting visitors and helping the community enjoy the season.

We’ll need 2–3 volunteers each day to help with parking from 1:00–3:00 PM. Roles include waving people in at the top of the hill, directing parking, and collecting donations.

Dates:

  • Saturday, December 6
  • Sunday, December 7
  • Saturday, December 13
  • Sunday, December 14
  • Saturday, December 20
  • Sunday, December 21

If you’re interested in helping, please sign up soon—these spots fill quickly! We may also consider adding December 27–28 if enough volunteers are available.

Your support makes a big difference every year. Thank you for helping keep this beloved holiday tradition running smoothly!

Día de los Reyes Volunteers Needed

Saturday, January 3rd

We’d love your help during our upcoming Día de los Reyes (Three Kings Day) celebration! The festivities will take place throughout Leavenworth from 1–7 PM, and we’ll be hosting part of the celebration on our campus from 1–3 PM with outdoor exploration, snowshoe tours, and fun games for kids.

We’re looking for volunteers to help with registration, kids’ activities, and snowshoe tours. Bilingual volunteers (English/Spanish) are especially appreciated as we welcome members of the Latino community to our campus, but anyone excited to lend a hand and share in the celebration is welcome!

If you’re interested in volunteering, please email Angela. We’d love to have you join us for this joyful community event.

Beverage Serving & Tech Support

Beverage Service
Being a beverage server requires a current Washington MAST certification. Don't have one? We will pay for your training (it takes around 3 hours)!

  1. Sign-up for a training
  2. Pay for it (we will reimburse you)
  3. Complete the training
  4. Send us the receipt
  5. Provide a copy (or come by and we will scan it) so we can have it on file
  6. Sign up for an event needed on the list from the volunteer email

Livestream Tech Support
Help us bring our Red Barn Events to a wider audience. Volunteers at the tech table assist with setting up and running the audio/visual equipment to livestream our events. Prior technology support experience is preferred, but we offer individual training and support for ages 16 and up.

Youth Programs: Field Days

A huge thank you to everyone who helped out with our Youth Field Days! Your time and energy made a big impact. For now, we are set on volunteers and do not need youth volunteers during November and December. Keep an eye out for an email in January with dates for our upcoming winter programs—we can’t wait to see you then!

Thank you again for your involvement with WRI and your commitment to your community. We appreciate you!

Sincerely,

Angela Crampton (she/her)
