Fun with Twigs: Plant ID in the Winter Wednesday, March 2nd 10:00AM-12:00PM Join WRI and the Washington Native Plant Society for a FREE plant identification workshop! During the winter months, deciduous woody shrubs and trees without flowers and leaves still hold clues to their identity. You'll stroll along the Wenatchee River and learn plant ID along the way. FREE Community Seed Swap Wednesday, March 16th 5:00PM-6:30PM Join WRI and the Plant Ally to swap and grab seeds for this year's garden. It's time to start planning for spring and planting seeds indoors. Members of the Community Garden will be present to share about the garden and provide seeds.
Intro to Wildlife Tracking Class Saturday, March 26th AND Sunday, March 27th WRI invites you to join us for a 2-day introduction to the language of wildlife tracking. You'll you’ll gain a basic understanding of how to identify and interpret the commonly left tracks and sign of birds, mammals, and insects of our region. Trashion Show Friday, April 22nd 5:30PM-7:30PM Introducing the first annual Trashion Show! A fashion show showcasing wearable garments using recycled materials and repurposed clothes. Create a team to build an outfit to be modeled down the runway OR come down to see the creative pieces built by your neighbors!

Upcoming Red Barn Events The History of Climbing in Leavenworth Tuesday, March 8th Join WRI in the Red Barn for an evening with Jim Phillips. He will discuss his 50+ years of climbing around Leavenworth, its history and mysteries, pitons and people, guide books & services, the Enchantments then and now, and his observations of changes since the 1960s!
Hiking Washington's History Thursday, March 24th Join WRI and author, Judy Bentley for an evening discussing her book Hiking Washington's History. She will describe some of the ancient and more recent paths now preserved, restored, and maintained for hiking. Her talk will draw from 44 historic hikes!
SAVE THE DATE: Summer Camp Registration Tuesday, March 15th Registration time is coming for youth camps this summer! Spots for each camp will go quickly, so make sure to register as soon as you can. Our youth camps focus on connecting youth to the natural world, making new friends, and having fun! Students will learn about the world around us, play fun games, explore the trails on the WRI Campus, spot birds, make art, and more!
![]() Love Like No Otter In the Love Like No Otter program with Mountain Sprouts, students learned about what it's like to be an otter by doing Otter Olympics and looking at an otter pelt and skull. They learned how otters catch fish with the help of their whiskers and how to move like an otter!
