Wenatchee Schools Get Outside

Two schools in Wenatchee School District had 4 days of exciting outdoor learning! 41 students (in grades 3-5) from Lewis and Clark and Columbia Elementary Schools got to hike, shoot arrows, use binoculars, and more at four different locations. Students who attended are all enrolled in a program to receive extra academic support. It was a week of fun and learning!

  • WRI Campus: Students connected with and learned about this area as well as explored our trails. They also got to play "What's That Bird?" where students looked for birds and learned how to identify them.
  • Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery: Students practiced their archery skills, learned about salmon and hatcheries with Marjie, and got to explore some of the trails.
  • Leavenworth Ski Hill: Students helped with some trail maintenance for the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance with James & David, explored the trails, and learned some survival skills such as setting up a tent.
  • Squilchuck State Park: Students explored many of the trails!

Special thanks to our partners: Marjie from USFWS and James & David from the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance!
