Chelan Douglas Land Trust

From Nominator, Rebecca Ryan:
The Chelan Douglas Land Trust (CDLT) has been a longtime partner of the Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest for over 20 years. Beyond their work with Bird Fest, The Land Trust has been instrumental in the conservation of over 21,000 acres of land in North Central Washington. Their efforts have led to the protection of critical habitats, including the preservation of native plant species and the restoration of vital ecosystems. One great example is the conservation of the Mountain Home Preserve in our backyard, which encompasses 1,700 acres of diverse landscapes ranging from forested areas to open ridge tops and meadows, providing a haven for wildlife and a beautiful place for public recreation. Projects like this allow for wildlife habitat, recreation and environmental education and make our valley a better place.
Bird Fest attendees have enjoyed many field trips on CDLT properties. Sometimes Bird Fest participants are even able to visit CDLT properties that are not typically open to the public, which is often an event highlight for them. Land Trust staff have shared their enthusiasm and expertise with participants, teaching them about birds, sharing about restoration projects, and sharing more about the work they do in the community. The value that is added to Bird Fest through continued partnership with the Chelan Douglas Land Trust is incredible. We are immensely grateful for the wonderful contributions the Land Trust has made throughout the history of Bird Fest.
