Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery
It is a privilege to present this year’s Founder’s Award for an Organizational Partner to the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery, a cornerstone of our community and an indispensable ally to both the Wenatchee River Institute and Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest.
For several years, the Hatchery staff have gone above and beyond to ensure the success of our festival. They don't just provide a space; they provide a home. By hosting and leading a variety of free field trips, they make birding and conservation accessible to everyone. Their generosity extends to the practicalities that keep our events running smoothly—opening their grounds for parking and serving as a vital meeting hub for birders from across the region.
However, their impact reaches far beyond a single weekend in May. The Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery is a key educational partner for WRI’s Youth Programs, fostering the next generation of environmental stewards. Whether they are leading hands-on activities during the Bird Fest Community Fair or participating in major events throughout the Wenatchee Valley, their staff and volunteers show up with a consistent commitment to public service and education.
Their collaboration isn't limited to our doors; they are a constant, supportive presence at nearly every major community opportunity in the area. They exemplify what it means to be a true partner—reliable, welcoming, and deeply invested in the health of our local ecosystem and the people who live here. You have probably seen Visitor Services Manager Nicole Shepherd or Park Ranger Sophia Troeh at several community events.
We are incredibly grateful for their continued partnership and their dedication to making our valley a more connected, informed, and vibrant place. Please join us in honoring the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery.
