Join us for the first Red Barn Event of the 2023-2024 season... This Red Barn Event is in partnership with Trust for Public Land (TPL).
Much of the land around Leavenworth and Wenatchee is parceled out in “checkerboard” plots, which creates access challenges for the public and makes it more difficult to mitigate wildfires. Trust For Public Land’s Mitsu Iwasaki will speak about the Upper Wenatchee Community Lands Plan, a community-driven conservation plan which aims to add 35,000 acres of publicly owned land, ensure healthy forests, promote wildfire stewardship, reduce wildfire risk, and increase access to trails and a variety of other recreational opportunities.
Mitsu Iwasaki is the Northwest Director at TPL where he leads TPL’s work creating and preserving green spaces so that more people can connect to the joys and benefits of the outdoors. From summits to the sound, TPL has helped put the outdoors in reach for almost 150,000 Washington residents reach by persevering places like Rattlesnake Ridge, Olympic Sculpture Park, and more. Mitsu leads projects across the region to create sustainable working forests that increase recreation opportunities and boost rural economies.
