Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest is part retirement home, part rescue, part educational facility. Learn how this unique organization cares for chimpanzees who have been used in the pet, entertainment, and biomedical industries and how the sanctuary has grown over the last seventeen years. Learn about the plight of chimpanzees and other primates and hear stories that illustrate the big personalities, intelligence, and resiliency of the sanctuary residents. Find out from a behind-the-scenes perspective what it takes to care for chimpanzees in captivity and what the future may hold for them and others like them.
About the presenter: Diana Goodrich has been with Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest since the first group of chimpanzees arrived in 2008, beginning as the sanctuary's Director of Outreach. She and her husband J.B. took on the roles of Co-Directors in 2013. Diana has an MS degree in psychology from Central Washington University, where she worked with the chimpanzee Washoe and her family, and an MS in animals & public policy from Tufts University. In her role as Co-Director, she oversees all fundraising as well as marketing and communications. Diana loves directly caring for the chimpanzees and connecting with individual supporters.
