Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute
Vic Baker, Professor of Planetary and Geosciences, U. of Arizona, and long-time Friend of the Erratics, will discuss "Ice-Age Flood Controversies: Past and Present." Catastrophic flooding has invoked controversy ever since the beginning of geological sciences. Disputes concerning the mega-flood origins of eastern Washington’s Channeled Scabland began a century ago with research by J Harlen Bretz (1882-1981) and Joseph Thomas Pardee (1871-1960). Debate has continued over the 50 years that Dr. Baker has been studying the area. This talk will provide an update on recent discoveries, with some reflections on both the past and future science of catastrophic floods
