HYBRID EVENT! Come in person or join virtually with zoom link below

Join us in the Red Barn to learn about the new community composting program coming to Leavenworth! This program is a partnership between Waste Loop and Winton Manufacturing Compost Works. Tonight you will get to hear from both of them!

Thad Schutt is the manager of Winton Manufacturing Compost Works. The new facility was built by re-purposing the decommissioned Winton saw mill near Coles Corner about 15 minutes north of Leavenworth. The project took about 3 years to become operational from concept to completion, which included permitting, construction, and testing. Winton Mfg Compost Works is permitting to receive, annually, up to 62,000 tons of yard debris, wood waste, food waste, and other organic waste streams. These materials will be turned into high quality compost for multiple area markets.

Waste Loop staff will share plans for the roll out of a new community composting program in partnership with Winton that will utilize the newly opened composting site. These plans include composting pilot programs in several local restaurants, community drop off sites, and composting education and implementation in our schools. Staff will be available to answer any questions regarding how to utilize these services and be involved and share more about our long term vision of sustainability in Leavenworth.

This is a FREE event with a donation basket at door.
Doors open at 6:30pm for a community social with beer and wine available for purchase. The presentation will start at 7:00pm.

Address: 347 Division Street, Leavenworth, WA 98826
