Presentation: Where Do They Go? Understanding the Migration Patterns of Hawks Wintering in Washington State

Description: Washington state hosts a vibrant community of wintering raptors, but where do all these hawks spend their breeding and summer months? GPS transmitters attached to Red-tailed and Rough-legged Hawks wintering in Washington affords unique insights into their fine scale movement and migratory behavior. Come gain an increased appreciation for the incredible seasonal journeys birds make every year as we explore their fascinating migratory behavior.

Presenter: Neil Paprocki recently moved to Wenatchee in 2022 and is pursuing his PhD studying bird migration at the University of Idaho. Neil has spent over 15 years as an ornithologist, mainly focused on the study of birds of prey (i.e., raptors).
