No prior science knowledge necessary! Speakers will give a talk on their latest research or a science topic they are passionate about, with some time afterwards for discussion or Q&A. Presentations start at 7pm – arrive early to grab a drink and get a seat!

Presentation: Duffy Meadows - Development of a Stage Zero Riparian Restoration Project

Description: What is a stage zero riparian system? Duffy Creek in Douglas County is a great example. Our presenter, Chris Sheridan, will walk us through the historic and current departed riparian conditions in the upper reaches of this area. We'll hear a summary of stage zero restoration concepts and details on the development of the restoration plan for Duffy Creek, while considering the issues impacting implementation of this plan. After the talk, a group discussion will follow to address the applicability and pros & cons of this restoration technique.

Presenter: Chris Sheridan received his Master's in Forest Ecology from Oregon State University in 2000, where his thesis analyzed amphibian and plant communities in zero-order riparian systems in the Coast Range of Oregon. Chris has been a practicing restoration ecologist for over 20 years, and has led the Fisheries, Aquatics, and Restoration programs for BLM's Spokane District since 2010. His accomplishments include completing over 10 aquatic and riparian restoration and habitat improvement projects while working for BLM and for Dept. of Transportation.
