Why is there 30 feet of volcanic ash south of Vantage, Washington?
For years, geologists thought the tephra must have come from a big eruption in the Cascades. New data from the ash bed confirms that a supervolcano in southern Idaho erupted 11.8 million years ago and sent ash to Washington and Nebraska simultaneously!
