**Registration required, follow the link below**
Content covered:
- Prescribed fire objectives, unit preparation, maps, apps, etc.
- Weather prescriptions, ignitions and holding plans
- Risk management
- Monitoring and post-burn considerations
- Permitting through the DNR Burn Portal
EXPERIENCE: No prescribed fire experience is required. However, this workshop is targeted toward private landowners, managers, contractors, organizational employees, seriously considering using prescribed fire on their properties. If possible, participants should bring a map (even if inexact or subject to change) of the land they hope to burn, and a general understanding of the conditions and vegetation type on their property. If you already have a burn plan draft, even better! Resources will be sent to you prior to the event for you to begin filling out and exploring.
Burn Plan Template: We will be teaching using the Washington Certified Burner Broadcast Burn Template. We will not be teaching with an NWCG burn plan.
PILES vs BROADCAST BURNING: Burn planning is an important piece of all prescribed fire, both pile burning and broadcast (understory/across-the-landscape) burning. Though this workshop can provide some helpful takeaways for pile burning, it will be most relevant for those hoping to plan for a broadcast burn.
