River Clean up by Raft
Please join us for a fun day of cleaning up trash along the Icicle and Wenatchee Rivers. We will be floating 3 miles via raft and stopping along the way to pick up litter from the banks. April is a great time of year for this work since we’ll be able to remove any garbage that has accumulated over the winter before the snow melts and the river rises to levels that will wash things downstream.
Due to the logistics involved with rafting, this event will be limited to the first 30 registered participants. There will also be a land based clean up happening concurrently and meeting at the WRI campus.
This event is put on as a partnership between Wenatchee River Institute and Waste Loop.
Garbage bags, hand sanitizer, and disposable gloves will be provided. Please bring work gloves if you would like to use these instead.
The river section is flat with a few riffles. Participants are required to wear properly fitted PFDs at all times while on the boat and follow the safety guidelines presented. Participants should wear footwear that can get wet. Rain/muck boots are a great choice! Please dress in layers. It is often a bit cooler on the river due to wind (a rain jacket is a great wind layer). Do not expect to get wet aside from feet.
For programs that are fully outside, we suggest that participants are vaccinated for COVID-19, though this is not required. We ask that you wear a mask during check in and while using the restroom. Masks will be required on the shuttle ride to the put in, but not when outdoors.
